Cain Reuniting With The Hustle Boys

For those who don't know, I was originally in a group called Hustle Boys before I went solo and now I think with my clout rising it's only right to put my team on. Hustle Boys consist of Myself (Cain), Tay Money (on the left in my picture), Raider (on right), and Tony Sparks (not in the picture). Each member in our group bring their own unique style to the table and I feel that the Hustle Boy brand will grow just as big if not bigger than Anthony Cain.

I also am working on my own entertainment based company called Phantom Empire. It will serve as a label, offer multiple music services, and more. "The Empire" will house the CT BOY brand, and my Non-profit business T.R.U.W. (pronounced true and stands for The Real Urban World) Organization, which will help young adults in the urban community to excel financially.

I will lead the way by dropping my single "Get Paid", and then the rest will follow suite, so just keep an eye out for my Empire!

Record labels Face $6 billion Damages For Pirating Artists

While the major record labels were dragging file-sharers and BitTorrent sites to court for copyright infringement, they were themselves being sued by a conglomerate of artists for exactly the same offenses. Warner, Sony BMG, EMI and Universal face up to $6 billion in damages for pirating a massive 300,000 tracks.

It is no secret that the major record labels have a double standard when it comes to copyright. On the one hand they try to put operators of BitTorrent sites in jail and ruin the lives of single mothers and students by demanding hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, and on the other they sell CDs containing music for which they haven’t obtained copyright permission.

In the past we’ve covered many disputes between artists and labels, where the latter is being accused or even sued for using songs without permission. Just a few months ago Latin America’s biggest artist, Alejandro Fernández, sent the police to a Sony Music office to confiscate over 6,000 CDs that the label refused to return, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The labels have made a habit of using songs from a wide variety of artists for compilation CDs without securing the rights. They simply use the recording and make note of it on “pending list” so they can deal with it later. This has been going on since the 1980s and since then the list of unpaid tracks (or copyright infringements) has grown to 300,000.

Growing tired of the labels’ piracy, a group of artists have filed a class-action lawsuit in Canada against four major labels connected to the CRIA, the local equivalent of the RIAA. In October last year Warner Music, Sony BMG Music, EMI Music and Universal Music were sued for illegal use of thousands of tracks and at present the case is still underway.

How and why this blatant copyright infringement could go on for years is a mystery, but the labels’ double standard has been picked up by the plaintiffs as well. “The conduct of the defendant record companies is aggravated by their strict and unremitting approach to the enforcement of their copyright interests against consumers,” the artists argue in their claim for damages.

The suit is still ongoing but already the labels have admitted to owing at least $50 million for infringing the rights of artists, and this figure could grow as high as 6 billion. So who are the real pirates here?

New York rap label Ruff Ryders has announced several new projects in 2010, including a reunion album featuring DMX, Eve and The Lox, a new album from Drag-On and a new venture, Ruff Ryder Indy.

Drag-On, born Mel Small, will release his third and final album for Ruff Ryders entitled My Life, My Legacy, My Melody in March.

The release will drop on Drag-On’s own record label Hood Environment, which he founded in 2006.

"I’ve reinvented myself and created a whole new sound," Drag-On told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "I’m trying to create another umbrella in this game with my label Hood Environment and my artists Da Dude and Eyez.B. However, I’m still the original ‘Fire-Man.’"

Drag-On entered into a joint venture deal with Ruff Ryder Indy to distribute his third official release.

Ruff Ryder Indy is a new, national distribution company founded by Ruff Ryder CEO Waah Dean. The distribution company serves independent artists with various album budgets.

“Over the last 20 years, my family and I have built the Ruff Ryders brand on good music, original talent and hard work,” Waah Dean stated. “Now, we are entering a new chapter of our company with album releases from Drag, Mook and the Ruff Ryder team, as well as the creation of our new ‘Ruff Ryder Indy’ division.”

Drag-On’s album will be followed by Ruff Ryders Evolution: Generation I.

The album will feature production from group member Swizz Beatz, in addition to appearances by Jadakiss, Styles P., Sheek Louch, Eve, Drag-On, DMX and the label’s newest artist, Mook. R

Entrepreneur, lyricist, music producer, song writer, and anything else he sets out to be, Anthony Cain is it! As a teen Anthony started hustling in the streets to be like the older guys who he looked up to in his neighborhood. He’s often compared to names like Fabolous, Cassidy, and Drake for his creative style of rhyming, along with Jay-Z and 50 cent for his profound business characteristics. Cain initially signed to Norfolk, VA based independent label Major Movement Entertainment, a powerhouse in the Hampton Roads area. Legendary DJ Mr. Magic has died from a heart attack, AllHipHop.com has confirmed with various sources.

Mr. Magic was a legendary DJ who debuted in 1979 on a pay-to-play broadcast on WHBI 105.9's "The Mr. Magic Disco Showcase."

In 1983, he launched "Mr. Magic's Rap Attack," in New York City which featured a young DJ Marley Marl in addition to future Co-Chillin Record label owner Tyrone “Fly Ty” Williams.

Mr. Magic, born John Rivas, was also a co-founder of the legendary Hip-Hop collective The Juice Crew, which featured Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Marley, Marl, MC Shan, Craig G., Kool G. Rap and Masta Ace.

Mr. Magic’s radio show influenced countless of artists, ranging from rappers like Tupac Shakur, KRS-One, Biggie Smalls, Nas, Eric B. and Rakim, DJ Premier and countless others.

“He paved the way for all radio stations that ever did mix shows,” DJ Premier said via his blog. “Also sparked the career of Boogie Down Productions due to the diss he showed when they came to shop their demo to him and was turned away which then sparked “South Bronx” and “The Bridge is Over.”

Mr. Magic was featured as a DJ on 2002’s Grand Theft Auto’s fictitious radio station Wildstyle Pirate Radio.

RAPPER BUMP J GETS 10 YEARS FOR BANK ROBBERY

Rapper Bump J was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday (Sept. 29) after admitting to guilt in a 2007 local bank robbery in August.

The artist, real name Terrence Boykin, received the minimum sentence for both charges, according to Chicago Hip-Hop blog Fake Shore Drive. The Chicago native will serve seven years for an illegal gun and 37 months for the bank robbery.

The jail terms will be served consecutively, and the rapper will also get credit for the time he has already served in jail.

In November 2008, the former Atlantic Recordsartist was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Carbondale, Illinois, about two hours east of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was charged as one of two gunmen suspected of robbing a Chicago Chase Bank on January 4, 2007.

The robbery, during which no one was injured, was captured on a surveillance camera.

At the end of his sentence Bump J will be eligible for placement in a halfway house.

A tsunami in the South Pacific has caused widespread destruction on the islands of Samoa and American Samoa.

The earthquake struck at 1748 GMT on Tuesday 29 September

At least 77 people were reported dead in Samoa, more than 25 in American Samoa and at least six in Tonga, on the island of Niuatoputatu.

Thousands of homes have been destroyed.

New Zealand has sent a plane to Samoa to help search for survivors, and says it is ready to air-lift supplies.

Rap star DMX will step into the ring against musician Eric Martinez this December, on the under card of the Tank Abbott/ Butterbean fight.

Thunder Promotions has announced that DMX will square off against Martinez on December 12 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Martinez is the CEO of Power Moves Entertainment, a record label, management firm, and event promotion company based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

According to Martinez’ bio, he is an official member of DMX’s management team and will wrestle the rapper during the event, which is dubbed “Alabama Pride.”

Alabama Pride kicks takes place December 12 at 8:00 PM in Birmingham, Alabama.

DMX is currently working on two albums with producer Swizz Beatz.

After a long weekend of activites, including performing, throwing a festival in his old neighborhood in Queens, and preparing for his upcoming Thisis50 Concert, 50 Cent has definitely been working hard.

This afternoon while in his Manhattan offices, employees say that 50 Cent was listening to Fat Joe's new album, "J.O.S.E. 2" when all the sudden, he collapsed! An ambulance was called, and by the time they arrived, 50 Cent regained consciousness and was complaining of blurred vision and a severe migraine. 50 Cent was rushed to Mt. Sinai hospital at 4:26 pm.

Doctors say after performing a Cat Scan and EKG there seems to be some damage to his auditory cortex, which is the region of the brain that is responsible for processing sound.
